we had so much stuff that packing the car was like level 189 in tetris. luckily i am a tetris master and made the girls a nice pocket of space. they were pretty happy with snacks and books for the few hours of driving. only had to pull the suckers out for the last 15 minutes or so.
we set up camp and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. despite a couple rainy days, we were still able to get plenty of beach time in. and even the rainy days weren't too bad (thank you capitola mall and target!)
lots of driftwood on the beach this year ... perfect for building shelters. grace was pretty happy when two friends turned her into a mermaid.
g found this fuzzy little fella and played with him for hours. i hope he survived chalk time. she was so sad when he had to go back to his family in the bushes. (at least i hope that's where he went.)
despite how it looks here, grace is not on a time out. she made this little stool out of fire wood and was rather content to sit and admire her flower necklace. i love that little hippie girl
we went to the boardwalk saturday night and got soaked. luckily, viv fell to sleep in the front pack and grace was too excited to care about the rain. she was seriously giddy about all the rides this year.
the rain was still coming down hard after we ran out of tickets so we stopped in the santa cruz diner. it was so yummy. grace was worn out and crashed before the check came. that girl can sleep anywhere.
our last full day was gorgeous. we played in the sand for hours. it was heavenly.
viv's still happy even when she face plants in the sand.
i love a good beach nap.
viv's favorite toy ... i think she liked listening to her echo.
every year i try to remember to take our family photo at the beginning of the trip before we are filthy. i forgot again. after seven days of camping we are all dirty and smelly. my hood's on because i might have dreads. filthy, dirty, and smelly, but still happy.
another good year.

You camped for 7 days? Ack!! You're a much better woman than I. But man I wanna sit on that beach for a few days, even if I have to camp for it. So fun!
