swinging with jared

my dad made this awesome swing in the backyard for jared. it's built on a thick plank of wood about 3'x4'. we layer blankets with a huge inner-tube for an extra comfy seat. jared (and all the rest of the kids & grandkids) love it. we've learned from jared's physical therapist that swinging actually helps the brain to reorganize. so there's some motivation to get our little ones to the park!
grace has taken the last six months in stride. she prays for jared, picks him flowers, draws him pictures, sings him songs and whispers secrets in his ear. a month or so ago she cried and admitted that she wasn't proud of jared's progress. she told me that she wanted him to stand up by himself. i cried with her and reminded her that one day he would. she was completely comforted by that and hasn't worried since. although we ache to see jared run around and hear his sweet, lispy voice, we are so grateful for the progress that he has made and continues to make. truly a miracle in so many ways.

I want to take a turn on that swing! Fun. How sweet that little Grace is so forthcoming, and so faithful. I keep Jared in my prayers and think of your family a lot.

Those swings are the best. Eliot used to use one in therapy. They did wonders for him. Love to you and your whole family!
